
Elizabeth Jameson was born in Rochester, New York, and received her BA in 1973 from Stanford University. She received her law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley in 1976. For the past four years, Ms. Jameson has been a student at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
Elizabeth Jameson is a former senior legal and health policy analyst at the Institute for Health Policy Studies at University of California at San Francisco, School of Medicine. She is a former Lecturer at the School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine.
Jameson was awarded the 1996 Stern Public Interest Pioneer Grant, which allowed her to continue research on the quality of medical care that children receive under employment-based managed care plans.
Jameson has published scholarly articles addressing the legal definition of “medically necessary” health care for children under managed care contracts. Prior to joining the University of California, Jameson served as a staff attorney at the Youth Law Center, a national public interest law firm. While at the center, she engaged in heath care litigation on behalf of children with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
Ms. Jameson’s in art followed a 30-year career as practicing public interest law. Ms. Jameson considers herself as both a public interest advocate and a pblic interest artist. The purpose of her work on the brain is to increase our understanding of the brain by making medical imaging more accessible to thise who view these revealing pictures.
Ms. Jameson paints in oils and acrylics. Her printmaking includes the use of solar etchings. She also paints on silk using dyes.
Jameson’s “Brain Series” was exhibited in 2007 at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. Her work was also exhibited at the Bedford Gallery in 2006 and 2008. Jameson’s solo show, Conversations with Myself: A Brain Journey” was held at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco was in November 24, 2009 through January 6, 2010.
